common issues
- Location not working — make sure you've allowed location access. On iOS (app), go to Settings → Anyone There and set location to "While Using the App". On Android, grant "Precise location" when prompted. In the browser, allow location access when the site asks. Anyone There never requests background location — foreground only.
- Not seeing anyone nearby — there may simply be no one else connected within range right now. The app shows the 10 closest people regardless of distance, so if the list is empty, no one else is online nearby.
- Stuck on "connecting…" — try closing and reopening the app, or refreshing the page. All connections use encrypted WebSockets (WSS); make sure your network doesn't block WebSocket traffic.
- Block or report someone — open a chat with the user and use the menu to block or report them. Blocking hides them from your nearby list and stops them messaging you; you can unblock from the same menu. Reporting also blocks them for you, and once enough different people report the same user, they're hidden from everyone nearby.
- Want to reset your identity — on the mobile app, delete and reinstall it. A new random ID will be generated on first launch. On the web, clear local storage for this site in your browser settings.
- Lost your nickname / bio after reinstalling — your profile is stored in your device's secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android EncryptedSharedPreferences). Uninstalling the app removes it permanently — there is no server-side backup.
